The Edit

AFter we did all the filming, we then started to edit out advert on the software Final Cut Pro, after that we decided which songs we would like to use for the backing track of the advert, we decided that we would do with Arctic Monkeys - Do I wanna Know, we picked that song because it went really well with the advert and also it all went on the beat of the drums. After that we did voice overs for the girl to say 'Get the London look' and also the usual voice overs they have on adverts telling you about the product.

Part of our edit.

On the day of filming.

Overall filming went really well, there were a few good points on the day and also a few bad points. We all started to film which went well, only few problems we had were that either the camera was out of focus and we took a while to make sure that it was in focus, and also the lighting of the room, at first it looked good, but then we realised that it looked a little bit 'orange' from the bedroom light, we also had fairy lights on to make it look more colourful and bright, but that was not enough light.
We also tried out the lighting equipment we had, but when we took a few test shots it looked a bit too bright and it didn't look that appealing, in the end we stuck to the original lighting we had and also a desk top light, and it looked much better, we also used bin bags to black out the window's as we wanted to set it at night time but we couldn't as it was still a little bit light out.

Test shots from when we were filming.

From when we were testing the lighting:

The brightness from the mirror was the lighting we needed, we also used fairy lights to make it look a little bit more brighter, and we also had the bedroom light on a medium light

setting.

We also wanted to see what the other lights looked like. We found out that they were too bright and that it would not look right when we were filming it.

Good and bad things of the whole project..

Good

  • We have a range of different resources available to us, where we have different camera's to film it and Tripods and also different lights and gels so we can change the colours if we wanted.
  • We have already found 1 location that we need, but we just need another suitable location which is a street that is quiet and accessible for us to use.
  • We have a good range of people in our group where some of us have good organisational skills, and also we have someone who can edit well, and then we have someone who can direct the cast well. Even though we can use a camera, we will get someone who is more confident on using a camera so they can help us shoot it from different angles.
  • We have also found a suitable actress for this who will be in our advert.
Bad

  • Time management is a huge issue for this project as we only have a certain amount of time left to film and edit all of this, so if we don't plan it wisely we will end up failing.
  • Weather wise, if we want to film the street part on a certain day, and it is raining we will just have to make do with what we have.

The Idea

  • Our idea is that it will be set at night time in a bedroom, the main light will be on but dim, so it won't be too bright and it wont be too dark, there will be fairy lights on and music playing. A girl is getting ready for a party where she is all dressed and made up ready to go out.
  • It will be in black and white
  • But then when the girl applies her lipstick (the camera will be close up on her lips) for the 'final touch to her outfit' the camera zooms out from her lips the colour the shows, as if there is a splash of colour.
  • When the girl is ready she puts the lipstick in her bag and walks down the stairs and out through the door (we will have various camera angles for this to make it more exciting)
  • As she walks up the street she turns back and says to the camera 'Get The London Look' (just like they do in Rimmel London adverts) and walks off.

What it will look like when we add colour to the black and white.

Rimmel London

  • The makeup brand we are going to do our advert on is Rimmel London.

  • It was founded by Eugene Rimmel in 1934, in Regent street, London, England.
  • He was born in France in 1920, where his father was a french perfumer, his father accepted an invitation to manage a perfumery in London, they then moved there.
  • In 1934, Eugene created his own perfumery called 'The House Of Rimmel, in the same year father and son both created their first cosmetic products.
  • By the age of 24 Eugene became a talented perfumer and cosmetic developer.
  • Observed by many beauty historians as the beauty and healthcare industries, Rimmel helped with the concept of hygiene and bathing. Eugene was also first to develop scented pomades and mouth rises where his signature was 'Toilet vinegar'
  • When his father died in 1887, his two sons took over the business, they extended the brand lines to make more colour cosmetics and also eye enhancing products.
  • Rimmel carried on as a family owned company until 1949, where it is now owned by 'Coty Inc.'

Rimmel London is now one of the worlds popular make up producers!

  • Their moto is 'Get The London Look'
  • Their aim is to show the message of 'Beauty with Attitude'
  • Rimmel London's target audience is 18-24 year old females who normally buy and wear make up.
  • Their four main focuses of the Rimmel London brand are: Products, Looks, London and Kate Moss, who is the face of Rimmel London.
  • There have been many different faces to advertise Rimmel London, Holly Willoughby, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Lily Cole, Georgia May Jagger and Coco Rocha.
  • Rita Ora has also got her own make up brand with Rimmel London.

Different Ideas

Final Project

For the final project we have decided that we are going to make an advert for a popular cosmetic brand which is either for make up or a spot cream. The target audience we are going to aim it at is mainly girls who wear make up or just want to get rid of that annoying spot.
Overt the past projects we have done I have always been producer where I have been in charge of organising the paper work and also the whole production where I have sorted the paperwork out and also casting. We have a range of different resources we can use for this where we have lighting equipment and different gels so we can change the colours of the lighting, different cameras and also the track and dolly so we can have interesting shots and also we can move with the person if they are walking.

Ideas for what we are going to do...
So we have decided that we are going to make an advert aimed at girls who wear make up or just want to get rid of that annoy spot. We have decided to create an advert because it is short and easy to make, we have also decided to base it on a make up brand or a spot cream because all girls love to wear make up even if its nail varnish, mascara all girls love it, we have also decided to do a spot cream if we don't go with the make up idea, everyone hates having that annoying spot on your face so it could be a good idea to do a spot cream advert to show how good that spot removal cream is.

Makeup brands we might do:

Spot remover brands:

Ideas!

My first idea is:
It is going to be based on a spot brand, maybe 'Clean & Clear' or 'Freederm'. At the start a girl in waking up in the morning and she looks in the mirror to find a huge red spot on her face! you can see her trying to use everything she can to get rid of that spot, until she finds the spot cream, she applies it on the spot and bam the spot has disappeared! You can now see the girl looking happy and much more refreshed now that her spot has gone!

My Second Idea:
It will be a lipstick advert for a makeup company like 'Maybelline' or 'MAC'. At the start of the advert you will see a girl all dressed up as if she is ready to go out to a party or something, it will be set in black and white, so there will  be no colour at all. She is in her bedroom, just ready to leave and then she finds lipstick, she applies it to add the wow factor to her outfit! When she applies the lipstick there will be a close up of her applying it, and when she is putting it on colour will show, like there is a splash of colour coming in, and then when the camera zooms out the room will be colourful, she will then open the door and walk out the room, and then you see her in a party all happy with her friends.

My third idea:
It will be a mascara advert , I haven't really got an idea for this but I put some notes down so I could think of one. There will be close up's of the mascara being applied, we could have a before and after for example, The girls eyes without makeup and then after the makeup has been put on to show how effective it looks. We could even have a black and white theme, so there will be a white background, and then the girl will be in a black dress, so then you can maybe see the mascara more clearer.
